Cornerstone
Evangelical Free Church

(tag line? as:) ...living and loving as Christ's family
About Us
Cornerstone is not a gathering of perfect people. In fact, it’s a spiritual hospital. Our medicine is the good news of redemption through Christ Jesus alone. As such, we depend on God’s Word, His grace, His church (other believers) and His Spirit to daily transform us and
guide us.

Wherever you are in your spiritual journey, we’d like to help. If you don’t know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you will spend eternity with God in heaven, please call 928.776.0121 and schedule an appointment with Pastor Dan. There’s nothing we would rather do than explain the peace you can have – in this life and the next – through Christ’s work on the cross.

If you already have a personal relationship with Jesus, you probably want to know what we’re about at Cornerstone. In a nutshell, we’re about obeying God’s Word (which we prize and value) and becoming a people who live by love, grace and truth. We summarize our purpose like this:

Rescue
Jesus said to “Go into all the world”
and share the news of salvation.
Mark 16: 15, 16

Transform
God empowers all believers
to become like Christ. 2 Peter 1:3

Love
Jesus’ followers can be identified by their love for each other. John 13:35
Serve
God has planned “good works”
for us to walk in. Eph. 2:10

These do not save us, but they do fulfill us. More importantly, they glorify God. As a follower of Christ, you will be the most fulfilled when you find your unique calling and embrace it. At Cornerstone, we want to help you grow in these four areas of your relationship with God.

What does
"Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church" mean?

Cornerstone: The Apostle Peter wrote, “I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame" (1 Peter 2:6). Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone of our faith. The truth that Jesus is the one who provides the only way to God is the rock upon which the church is built.

Evangelical: This word simply means that we teach salvation by faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. It also refers to our commitment to the spread of this Good News and to the Bible as the only safe and sufficient guide for faith and life.

Free: Historically, this refers to our belief that each local church should have the right to govern its own affairs, free from state or denominational control. At Cornerstone, we also use this word to emphasize that salvation is a free gift that cannot be earned but only received through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Church:
While this may seem like the simplest term in our name, it is often the most misunderstood. A church is not a building. It is a gathering of people committed to a united purpose. It is a family of people seeking to grow in their relationship with God and one another. It is a body of people gifted by God to serve one another in ministry, led by Jesus Christ and guided by the pastor and elders.
